The group
A3lab is headed by Prof. Francesco Piazza and at present constituted by 2 senior researchers, 5 Post‐Doc researchers and 4 PhD students, which together coordinate the work of about 30 students every year, working for their final graduation thesis (Bachelor and Master).
Activities
The main lab activities are in the area of Digital Signal Processing for Audio and Multimedia applications, including adaptive DSP algorithms and systems, artificial neural networks, audio and speech processing, metadata processing. Special efforts have been recently made on digital signal processing for in‐car audio, with the development of new algorithms and software tools for multi‐purpose audio processing, rendering and evaluation.
Joint Semedia Group
A3Lab jointly works with Semedia, under the same supervision, on topic related to metadata processing and semantic web applications. A3LAB and Semedia constitute the 3MediaLabs research group.
Achievements: Discovery european project, Google Summer of Code mentoring, SWAP workshops organization.
