Born in 1986, I received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Italy, respectively in 2008 after a thesis in Software Engineering developed at Intel, Germany and in 2011 (summa cum laude) after a thesis developed under the supervision of Prof. Vesa Välimäki at the Aalto University of Finland in physical audio signal processing. In 2011, together with other colleagues I won a research prize from Telecom Italia for an innovative water monitoring system. After winning eCapital 2012, a seed funding competition from Fondazione Marche I co-founded DowSee Srl, a university spin-off company providing innovative Energy Harvesting and Monitoring Wireless Network solutions.

In 2015 I got the PhD degree at Università Politecnica delle Marche. I am currently a research assistant at the A3Lab group and I direct research and development activities of the spin-off company DowSee Srl in the area of low power electronics for smart metering.

My research topics include wireless Networked Music Performance, physics-based sound synthesis and embedded platforms for physical computing. I also hold hands-on workshops for students or DSP-newbies on music-related topics such as:

  • sound synthesis and processing in Pure Data and other open source platforms,
  • embedded sound computing with Linux and ARM processors (Raspberry PI, Beagleboard xM),
  • DSP methods for effects and physics-based sound synthesis,
  • creating music interfaces with fast prototyping tools (Arduino, Teensy, etc.)
